The Shambhala Meditation Center is proud to host His Eminence the 12th Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche for a very special teaching program. At the invitation of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, His Eminence will teach on both public and Vajrayana topics.

His Eminence was recognized and enthroned as the reincarnation of Zurmang Gharwang by the 16th Karmapa. He has studied under the guidance of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa and other great masters including Kalu Rinpoche, Tulku Urgyen, and Jamgon Kongtrül Rinpoche. He directs and supports two monastic institutions, one in Tibet and another in Sikkim, India, and has taught internationally since 1987.

Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche is a master in the Zurmang (Surmang) Karma Kagyü lineage, with which the Shambhala community shares a close connection. The current and previous Gharwang Rinpoches have been instrumental in preserving and promoting the lineage of the Zurmang Kagyü in Tibet and around the world.
