Life is like a dream:

while we are dreaming, we experience a range of emotions, from excitement and happiness to sorrow and fear. But once we wake up, there is nothing of these experiences that we can show to others or keep for ourselves. In this way, dreams can teach us a lot about our lives, since nothing is permanent or stays with us forever— whether it is our friends, power, wealth, or fame, everything changes as time goes by, as we have all experienced on a daily basis. Thus, it is important to gain an understanding of impermanence and apply it in our lives. When we face life's inevitable ups and downs, instead of being shocked, upset, or blaming others, we should work to accept change and learn to live with it. When we are mindful of impermanence, this gives us the ability to accept and deal with difficult situations and realistically face change—including the ultimate change of death itself.
