Be Diligent, Be Respectful, Be Mindful

  • Success depends on how much and how long you can maintain your effort and determination, for without these, failure could be just around the corner.

  • It is very important not to forget what we have done in the past and it is more essential not to repeat the same mistakes in the near future. Among all, current moment is the most vital because present actions shape what kind of legacy we will leave behind for the next generation. Therefore, a New Year is the auspicious time to commit ourselves to plan a bright and meaningful future for all by cultivating love and respect.

  • We share with others 99 percent of all our resources, from air to water. No matter how much we try to be self-sufficient, not relying on others, it is impossible since we are interdependent - not independent. Thus it makes much more sense to accept that we are part of one big family and to share love, respect, and care with everyone rather than to run away and allow loneliness to take over and make our lives miserable.

  • Life is like a flowing river, which keeps moving and never returns. Similarly, our lives are momentary, and never stop for even a moment. We have just a little moment to think and decide what we wish for our future, because if we do not act now, then we may fail. Thus, in my opinion, we need to fully understand that we have very little time to make our future brighter and more beautiful. It would be unwise to spend our entire lives seeking wealth, fame, and power. We cannot carry everything with us - these are just a ticket to fly, and once we reach our destiny, the ticket is useless. Consequently, it is better to work for something which we can be proud of so that future generations can follow in our footsteps.

  • We keep hearing from others that sometimes our body do not follow what the mind wants. Now, I feel that I truly understood what that really means. For instance, I arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, but my body still acts as if it’s still in Boston. Thus, when our bodies and minds go different ways, then we cannot function normally and also there are hidden dangers that may take this opportunity to strike us when we lack mindfulness and awareness.
