In case you are not aware of the merit multiplying effects generated in this month which in Tibetan is known as the Saga Dawa, here is a little write-up which you may be interested to take note:

Saga Dawa
Effect of actions x 100,000 times during the whole month.
Effect of actions x 10 million times on Vesak Day, 31 May.

Saga Dawa is the holiest month of the Tibetan calendar. Three of the most important events in Buddha's life took place on Saga Dawa Duchen, the full moon day of the fourth month; namely, his birth, enlightenment, and passing into Parinirvana.

Tibetan Buddhists regard the full moon day of Saga Dawa as the anniversary of these three great events. According to Buddhism, one's rebirth begins with conception. The birth of Buddha Shakyamuni is recognized as this day of his conception. On his thirty-fifth birthday, Lord Buddha attained full and complete enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodhgaya. On his eightieth birthday, he passed into Parinirvana in Kushinagar. This is why Saga Dawa is regarded as most holy.

Saga Dawa is also known as "bum gyur dawa" in Tibetan, meaning "the month which multiplies by 100,000". Whatever wholesome or unwholesome action one does during this month has a 100,000 times stronger effect than at other times. Therefore, during Saga Dawa, it is important to refrain from harmful or unskillful action, and it is a most beneficial time to practice dharma, do prostrations, make offerings, recite prayers, feed and save animals, follow a vegetarian diet, and accumulate merit by all manner of skillful actions.

Therefore sieze the Buddha's compassion and light a lamp, make offerings, or help the ZKBC Building Fund, or the printing of the Zurmang Lineage Text, food offerings, or any virtuous deed that you may do on this Vesak Day -- Buddha will credit your merit bank 10 million times!

Likewise, we should also be very mindful not to create any negativities, otherwise the effects also multiply in the same manner. So scarry!

As such to avoid gathering negativities, better visit temples and Buddhist Centres and best of all sit and practice together in a group.

Hope to C U folks!

ZKBC Committee.

22-Feb-2008
To All Dharma Bros & Sis & Supporters,

A gentle reminder to all U busy people on the path, Gharwang Rinpoche will soon be coming to conduct the Guru Rinpoche Grand Puja at Futsing and also the program at Teochew Bldg.

However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, Gharwang Rinpoche will be arriving in Singapore only on 1st March instead of 28th Feb. 2008 as originally intended.

Rinpoche has been in Chengdu for the past one month or so to receive the Complete Transmission of the Zurmang Lineage Teachings (Zurmang Nyengyud) from Khenpo Sonam Chophel Rinpoche.  The teachings  will need another few more months before it can be completely transmitted. Being the Lineage Holder of Zurmang Kagyud Tradition, this teaching is extremely important to Gharwang Rinpoche.  HH 17th Karmapa &  H.E Gyaltsap Rinpoche have both requested and are waiting to receive directly from Gharwang Rinpoche the transmission of Zurmang Nyengyud.

However, due to Rinpoche's compassion for all of us, he has decided to cut short or rather interrupt the receipt of the teachings and come to Singapore for the coming program. Imagine how fortunate we are! So please remember not to miss the coming precious teachings by Gharwang Rinpoche at Teochew Bldg. from lst Mar to 3rd Mar (Sat to Monday) and also the Guru Rinpoche Grand Puja at Futsing Association Bldg starting from 6th March to 9th Mar  (Thurs to Sunday). i believe all of u have already received the program brochure n registration forms for the activities and participations.

Rinpoche has given instructions to our  Zurmang Khenpo & Resident Lamas to conduct a Guru Rinpoche Zambala Yangok Puja in place of  the first day program at Teochew Bldg. on 29th Feb. 2008 ( Friday). Your presence is important to them, as well as to us. Hope to see all of you there!

Take care and warmest regards to All.

May All be blessed by All  our Gurus, Buddhas & Bodhisattvas!

Thank you All for support!

7th Feb. 2008 Thurs (lst Day of CNY)  3pm to 5pm
Trung Mase Tsok  to receive blessings and accumulate vast merits through this meditation.
What is a Tsok? A tsok is when offerings (usu. food or drink) are placed on a shrine during a special practice day. The offerings are given and offered to the Buddhas & the retinues. We think of Gurus, Buddhas & Bodhisattvas and have gratitude. We think of teachings that are guiding us on the path of Enlightenment. We think of all sentient beings and have compassion for sufferings and pray that all beings will be liberated from Samsara. We pray that the offerings help to reduce the sufferings of sentient beings. This is one of the ways to make us less self-centred.  Eventually, we can understand that all is inherently non-existent; that our concepts are viewed only through our mind but is not absolute reality.

8th Feb. 2008 (2nd Day of CNY) 3pm to 5pm
Zambala Yangok Puja  to accumulate spiritual and material wealth with the right motivation.

15-Jan-2008
Dear All,

U are cordially invited to attend Guru Rinpoche Zambala Yangok Puja this Thursday 17th Jan. 2008 to mark the transformation of the puja hall into a mini Lingdum Monastery. The  humble hall has just recently been painted with beautiful artwork by our Zurmang Lamas. Please come and appreciate.

The Puja will be conducted by one of our Zurmang Khenpos & 3 Lamas. As advised by Rinpoche, pujas are as important as teachings. Pujas help to purify our negative karma unless we are absolutely certain that we are great practitioners then, probably we can say, we do not need pujas! Many people are unable to attend due to their other commitments, however for those who have the time, it is advisable to make an effort, coz it is beneficial to do so.

Time: 8.30pm sharp
Date: 17th Jan. 2008 Thursday.
(Guru Rinpoche Day)
Venue: ZKBC at 301 Guillemard Road

Hope to C U.

13-Nov-2007 Dear All,

U are sincerely invited to participate in Medicine Buddha Puja this coming Sunday (18th Nov. 2007) at 3pm in ZKBC Centre. Remember, group chanting always generate more merits and more power and with pure motivation to help sentient beings, we can do our part to help reduce if not eliminate sickness, negativities in oneself and the world. HH Sakya Trizin has just blessed our ZKBC centre this morning 13th Nov. 2007 (through our Guru Gharwang Rinpoche's blessings, we were very fortunate to be able to invite HH Sakya Trizin to our centre, despite his very busy schedule).

As it was a last minute arrangement that was subject to much changes, we apologise for not being able to notify many of u in time to come for the blessings. However, due to HH's vast compassion, lots of blessings are left in the centre, do come this Sunday to "grab" them by participating in the Medicine Buddha Puja. Especially for those who have missed in the participation of the Medicine Buddha Puja conducted by HH Sakya Trizin days ago in his centre. And for those who have attended, don't u agree it will benefit even more if u continue with the practice and chanting?

Hope to C U this Sunday (3pm to 5pm).

Tashi delek!

27-Aug-2007 "Dear Dharma Bros & Sis,

We are glad to inform that our spritual leader, 12th Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche will soon be arriving from New Delhi on 6th September(Thursday) by Jet Airways 9W 18 est. time arrival 16.50

Rinpoche will be conducting Drolmai Yuldo Puja on 8th Sept(Sat) to clear all kinds of obstacles affecting our body, speech and mind and also to bestow the Green Tara Initiation to enable everyone to practice for liberation from above obstacles.

On 10th & 11th Sept. (Mon & Tues), Rinpoche will be continuing the teachings on Bardo. This is based on a commentary - The Great Liberation through Hearing in the Bardo by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Quote:
Liberation in this case means that whoever comes into contact with this teaching--even in the form of doubt, or with an open mind--receives a sudden glimpse of enlightenment through the power of the transmission contained in these treasures.
Unquote.

SO U MUST NOT MISS THIS TEACHING!

Hi Dharma Bros & Sis,

Vesak Celebration

You are cordially invited to 301 Guillemard Road on 31st May 2007(Thursday), the celebration may be small but the meaning is great. Due to Buddha's great compassion, Vesak Day is created so that sentient beings like us can accumulate multiple merits in one day! And due to our Guru's love for us, the centre is created so that we can all practice together to create more positive energy for all sentient beings. It would be a pity if we do not sieze the opportunity to use it meaningfully.

In the Tibetan Tradition of Buddhism, Vesak Day is one of the Four Great Dharmacakra Days during which all merits of virtuous actions are multiplied ten million times.  Similarly, on these days, any negativities arising out of non-virtuous actions are multiplied ten million times. Therefore we would like to encourage you to participate in taking the eight precepts and make lamp offerings and participate in the puja to accumulate merits.

Hope to C U.

Saga Dawa
Effect of actions x 100,000 times during the whole month (May 17 to Jun 15 2007).

This is why Saga Dawa is regarded as most holy.Saga Dawa is also known as "bum gyur dawa" in Tibetan, meaning "the month which multiplies by 100,000".
